I proudly identify as part of one of the most influential generations in history - the Baby Boomers. During the late 1960s, we came together in solidarity to fight against hatred, discrimination, and work towards equalizing human rights and fostering peace. Although peace remains elusive, I remain optimistic that our ambitious aspirations for effecting change are still a work in progress.
Currently, there is a movement known as the MAGA movement, which aims to bring people together and initiate transformative change. Nevertheless, there is widespread concern about the significant threat that their violent tendencies pose to our democracy.
I have a feeling that their universe is experiencing a small crack that will expand and cease to be a catalyst for change, unlike our generation. The reason for this is that their main objective appears to be centered solely on empowering one individual. Self-interest motivates this person and is manipulating the masses to achieve his desired goals. There will be change if this movement prevails. Will that change be one of chaos or peace? We must decide.
We, the boomers generation, prioritized a select few important causes to promote equality for the greater good. That’s how we differ. We advocated for the preservation of the democratic process; not against it. That is why we succeeded.
We’re all on the same page about the need for another change. It is our duty to take the lead in bringing about that change, fostering mutual understanding, and working towards enacting inclusive legislation instead of promoting division. As a collective generation, we possess the capability to unite, and now is the opportune moment to exhibit our solidarity. We proudly declare ourselves as the greatest generation of all time.
